The production with its cast of full and part time members has been translated into English. This ensured that the narrative was easy to follow and always clear. As this was my first operatic experience, I was at first, cautious and wary. Soon my perception of opera was altered as the wonderful sets, costumes and actors bought the production to life.
The orchestra conducted by Steven Sloane gave a magical performance. The music performed with exceptional skill and dexterity was strong and resonant.
The lead role 'Sir John Falstaff', was played by 'Conal Coad'. He gave an exceptional performance. Originally from New Zealand Cord has sang all over the world. His engagements include the Royal Opera House and concerts in Germany and Holland.
The Opera is comic and set in three parts. Falstaff is desperately short of funds, to compensate for this he plans to seduce two wealthy women for their money. Unfortunately for Falstaff they catch on and decide to teach him a lesson.
The company is of exceptional quality and it is well worth going to see one of their performances.
